Honored and Grateful: Receiving the Distinguished 1921 Award

I am beyond thrilled and humbled to share the incredible news of being selected as one of the recipients of the esteemed 1921 Award. This grant, rooted in the legacy of Black Wall Street, is a testament to the resilience and determination of minority entrepreneurs who have historically been denied resources and funding. As we commemorate the 102nd anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre, I am deeply honored and grateful to receive this distinguished award that recognizes the hard work and dedication I have poured into building my business.

Reflecting on History

The Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 was a devastating event that saw the destruction of the vibrant Black business district known as Black Wall Street. Over 100 Black-owned businesses, including hospitals, libraries, movie theaters, and retail stores, were tragically burned to the ground. This dark chapter in our history serves as a reminder of the systemic challenges and barriers faced by Black entrepreneurs throughout the years.

Celebrating Resilience

In the spirit of Black Wall Street and in recognition of the incredible entrepreneurs who persevered, the 1921 Awards were established to celebrate and elevate Black individuals who have demonstrated exceptional resilience and success despite facing limited resources and support. I am profoundly grateful to be among the five recipients chosen for this remarkable honor.

Expressing Gratitude

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Build in Tulsa for recognizing my efforts and selecting me as an awardee. The significance of this award goes beyond the monetary value; it is a symbol of acknowledgment and validation for the hard work, sacrifices, and dedication I have invested in building my business and community-based organization.

The Power of Community

I am immensely proud to stand alongside the other incredible awardees who exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering determination that defined Black Wall Street.

Looking Ahead

With the grant funds provided by the 1921 Award, I am excited to embark on various projects that will further support the growth and development of my business. This opportunity will allow me to expand my reach, make a greater impact, and continue the legacy of Black Wall Street.

As we celebrate this honor, I want to extend my deepest appreciation to everyone involved in making the 1921 Award possible. To my family, friends, mentors, and the entire community that has supported me on this journey, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Together, we can uplift and empower minority entrepreneurs, ensuring that opportunities flourish and dreams become reality.
